HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Before you can start learning to drive, you will need to apply for your provisional driving licence. You can do this at your local Post Office or online here.
To apply for your provisional driving licence you will need to be turning 17 within three months of your application, you will need proof of identity, to live in the UK and be able to provide all addresses you have lived at over the last three years.
The DVLA will usually send you your provisional licence within three weeks of receiving your application, although it can sometimes take longer. |
READY TO START DRIVING?
Once you have your provisional licence, we're ready to get going.
As soon as you're thinking about learning to drive, it is a good idea to learn the Highway Code and prepare for your theory test. The Highway Code is designed to protect all road users and it is very important that you are aware of the Code and are considerate to both drivers and pedestrians. |
MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC?
We have an automatic car to teach you to drive in.
Automatic cars are often favoured for driving in busy city traffic, with the car selecting which gear you need, leaving you to focus on your speed and the road. Learning in an automatic car could be ideal for the more nervous driver. Without the clutch pedal and gears, automatic cars are easier to learn to drive, so you could have your licence quicker, however, you will then be restricted to driving an automatic car once you have passed your test. If you learn to drive a manual car, you will be permitted to driving both manual and automatic cars once you have passed your test. This will give you more options when it comes to purchasing a car. We can teach you to drive in your own manual car. |
THE THEORY TEST
The theory test consists of a multiple choice section and a hazard perception test. You need to be successful in both parts if you want to pass overall. Your friendly driving instructor will help you with your theory training and ensure you have the knowledge to pass.

THE PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST
Everyone learns at a different pace and there is no set amount of lessons you should have before you're ready to take your test, it is more about when you and your instructor think you're ready. Whilst knowing your manoeuvres are important, your examiner will also be looking to see how you observe and react to different situations.
